Is it just me… or maybe the lack of sleep at the moment.. or.. what I don’t know.. but just for this ever so brief moment, Gunner in the last panel reminds me of Nefflite (or how ever you spell that guys name) from Sailor Moon minus the cape .. and the white hair.. aaannnd what ever else I missed… color me weird or what not.. Just an observation… I honestly think its the hair, and the way his outfit is.. mainly the hair for the moment… *Shrugs*
Other than that, GO REONA!!! That has made a lot of peoples morning, afternoon, day.. what ever.. its like 3am for me… As for Gunner… he is about to have a bad day. I feel sorry for him… (Quoting the off frame statement: “She did it”) well… almost. ^_^

I’m pretty sure in the last panel that is Efrem talking to Gunner from off panel. I am also pretty sure that Efrem has always been team Zap, and his work with Gunner is part of whatever plan Zap had when he wiped his own memory.

I don’t think, I pretty much know- that “she did it” was from him as the next statement in the ongoing conversation with him and Gunner where the previous one was the statement that he’d found the girl from his dreams…and that worried look on Gunner’s face was starting to happen back when Efrem told him that previous statment.

Great going Gunner, not only have you retaught the hero most of his combat applicable skills and brought him back to (nigh)full strength. You’ve guaranteed that he’s going to be quadruply motivated to come after you. Because you tried to use him while under(flimsy)mind-control to kill off all his friends.
yeah, Gunner’s biggest flaw is his arrogance, I think. Look where it has gotten him! And he just won’t stop.

I’m not saying Efrem is less sympathetic a character because I doubt which “team” he’s been on all this time. For me at least, it’s more because of that whole Hey I found my friend’s dream girl while I was out in the world and I hooked up with her as my girl using my empathy powers then broke her heart (and indirectly her arm) before I told my friend about her thing. Yeah. Dude. That’s not what friends do.
But I’m reserving full on judgement until there’s more back story revealed to us. I don’t know what sort of reasons Efrem had to pull the stuff he did with Reona.

BUT. I don’t think Zap is going to killGunner. Zap could have done that a Looooong time ago when he first precoged that Gunner was going to betray him.
Being a powerful precog give you more than just a cheat on how things turn out… it also gives you a veiw of reality that so out of the box that you don’t look at thing s in the form of threats to be eliminated …but cyles of events that create a …tapestry of fate. A cosmic dance of cause effect and …destiny.
I feel Zap beleives something in Gunner is worth saving …something of his destiny is worth preserving… or Zap could have ended this a long time ago.
Zap must really love Gunner to walk this path… to let Gunner do this to the end for some reason.
Perhaps Gunner …learns something and his destiny is more important than his current deeds?
I wonder what Zap is trying to accomplish… and I marvel at the depth of his friendship with Gunner.
There must be something he sees in him that has inspired him to suffer all this at his hands.

Or Zap simply calculated that he requires Gunner to dance his little part before he bows off the stage in order for the rest of the pieces to fall into their preferred place according to his own agenda.
Just look at Palpatine (although he made a slight error towards the end there) or the Oracle (Vector Sigma) in Transformers: Beast Machines.
When you’re at the level that supposedly Zap is at, everything simply becomes chest pieces.
