    Gunner, Efrem doesn’t need to be stronger than you.
    In terms of MMO mechanics, the Tank(Efrem) only needs to stall the Boss(Gunner) long enough for the DPS(Zap) to take them out first.
    Switch targets fast or you’re screwed.

    Bad? no, I’d say smart. But people in movies and stories and webcomics seldom go for the smart response. That would end the epic climax scene too quickly.

    Seems Reona’s shield only comes into effect if there is a direct attack on her. That blast’s proximity would have triggered it otherwise.

    You know, I had a sneaking suspicion last page that Efrem was going to show up and redeem himself… Problem is, I’m also betting he gets killed doing so. I will be saddened if these predictions prove true, but I guess it’s better to die noble than live with self pity. Or hatred. Probably more so with the hatred. >.<

    Even if Reona didn’t want to shoot Gunner at this opportune moment (for whatever reason), it would still make sense to shoot and melt the gun itself, which Efrem has pulled from Gunner. It is the only way for Gunner to (try to) circumvent the protection on Reona.

    Otherwise, if Gunner dispatches Efrem, he could then reclaim the gun from wherever it happens to be, thereby restoring the previous state.

    p.s. But I agree that it does make sense to try to take out Gunner himself before he can hurt Efrem or anyone else.
