  • Well we’re glad we could make you a blubbering mess of tears and sadness. Mission accomplished! Thanks for staying with us for so long.

  • Better late than never, right? Thanks for feeling the need to express your enjoyment. We are happy to hear it.

  • Thank you, friend. I know you’ve been with us a long time and a loyal fan! Hope you continue over with Pascalle’s Wilde Life and my new project next year. Thanks for reading.

  • Thank you so much. Its a bit nutty to see it end, I agree but, as they say, “all good things…”

  • Thank you so much. Such a long time, isn’t it?

  • Thank you mirrim. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

  • It can be hard, trust me, we know. But thank you for sticking with us for so long! Glad you enjoyed the ending.

  • Hey, just glad you enjoyed enough to make you want to tell us. We are super happy our readers seemed to enjoy our work. Thank you so much.

  • Free? Dangit, I knew I forgot to put up that paywall….

But seriously, thank YOU for reading.

  • Yeah, shotgun to the face for you! A shotgun of story I mean…. um… anyway, thanks for reading!

  • Wow, glad we inspired you! Thanks so much for the kind words and for reading Zap!

  • MC

Also first time commenter (better late than never …) – I also started pretty early on, and I want to say congrats. Starting a webcomic is something – finishing it is another!! You have great characters, you gave them decent development, made us care for all of them (even Gunner!), and you made us wanting for more. Success! :)

And also, the obvious – THANK YOU for sharing with us! Free! On the Internets!

  • prplmkyfr

Eeeheehee! I’ve been a mostly-silent reader since “Honey, I’m Home”… I don’t remember how long ago that was, but it’s sure been a while. This has always been one of my absolute favorite webcomics, and I’ve loved watching the art develop, too. It’s one of my reasons to hope that I may someday, in the distant future, be that good at art.
So, thank you for the amazing comic! Now, to go waste a few days with an archive binge! :D

  • Cinder_<3

    *Grins* What a great ending.

  • LisaCat

Aghghhhh so many happy-sad tears! The writing, the art, the everything was so much fun these last few (many) years! Chris and Lepas, you are both amazing, wonderful, generous people for sharing your story and talents with us :) I don’t know when I started reading, it’s been so long, but I’ll miss Zap, Reona, Naveed, Gunnar, and the whole crew a lot! They’ve become such an integral part of my Mondays (and sometimes Thursdays!) that I think I’ll be lonely without them! You guys really made an epic happen! Drama, love, vengeance, comedy, witty one-liners, complex villains, plot twists, relatable heroes, space squids, gorgeous, dynamic art… you had it all! I’m already entranced by the first chapter of Wilde Life, but Zap! is going to stay with me as one of my all-time favorite comics, ever! *sniffle*

Stay fabulous, you two crazy kids!

  • Ghost

Don’t think I’ve commented before but been reading a really really long time and with this ending, I felt I should say something so I just have to say what an awesome damn ride its been and I can’t wait too see what you come up with next ^^

  • Thomas

Maybe I shouldn’t have blocked java … also kidding, I actually allow ads for the webcomics I read, so glad to contribute a little bit. Zap I followed sporadically since 2005 and regularly since 2010. I have already bookmarked the new project (everyone should do so) and am looking forward to many years of fun.

Talking of support – I liked the ending so much that I would like to purchase Zap in dead tree format. You only sell to US though?!? Are you on Amazon or such?

  • Deanna

Wow…what a weird way to say “Thank you for all your hard work and for giving me all this free content.” ………………

  • chelekat

Haven’t commented until now, but I’ve been reading for years. Thanks so much for such a wonderful story. :)

  • Rishkin

I keep trying to think of the right words, and I don’t have them. All I can come up with is a very simple and heart felt Thank You. Thank you both for sharing this with us.

  • LynUn

This makes me so happy and so sad. This comic has been a part of my life for such a long time and I hated that it was to end soon. But the satisfaction of reading the ending as a complete story instead of a weekly snippit was fantastic. Thank you and I’m looking forwards to your new story!

  • haha!

  • Try again now? the website got slammed with everyone trying to read at once.

  • spiritwolf15x

I’m really going to miss this comic… It was a really fun trip. Happy endings are always awesome.

  • Too many years. And a great comic ends here. Thanks for the lot of pages and the lots of diversion.
Zap! always be one of my favorites

  • I dunno if y’all come south enough. I’m in Louisiana. :c

  • Joshua Rudder

This was an amazing ending and I love you all the more for it. I’ve been with Zap since the very beginning. My name is even in the first prints that you did cause I helped with proofreading for it. It’s been an amazing journey and I’m sad to see it go but thank you for the memories and the moments we’ve shared over the years.

  • PrivateEye

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Congratulations Pascalle and Chris. Zap! has been my favorite comic (maybe tied with Questionable Content) for a long time. You guys nailed the ending. Thank you both for this amazing story and I’m looking forward to reading Wilde Life :)

  • safyrejet

And so ends one of my absolute favorite webcomics ever. It’s the end of an internet era.

I know you all are getting a lot of “it’s over good job” ending messages but I’ll toss mine into the mix.

I am happy to have been along for the ride, sad to see it end, but also quite satisfied to see how it is finished. Smashing great job Chris, Pascalle. I’m almost mad at you for posting the last group of pages all at once. Besides crashing the server and leaving us not being able to read it for like a day, I ended up having to put my day on hold to read through the whole bunch just now. I didn’t want to rush through it though. That’s a great bit of storytelling. And Pascalle, I didn’t say it on each page, but you should be proud of the artwork you did, for this whole thing really, but this last group of pages really was phenomenal. The expressions, the color keys, the magical boy effects. I’m impressed.

Thank you both for sharing this with all of us.

And I’ll be seeing you in the comment section of Wilde Life, already in progress. :)

  • Robert Nowall

*Very* funny. Ending it all at once. Best of luck with whatever you’re doing next—on my way to see about purchasing the books.

  • Dara

I’m quite certain I’ve never commented on this webcomic before, despite wanting to several times. I’ve been reading your webcomic for years now, and just wanted to at least say thank you- it’s been a wonderful ride, seeing it all develop, and I’d be lying if I said I won’t miss it.

I’ve really enjoyed seeing the characters grow, and while I’m sad it’s over, it’s a fantastic work of art you brought us all. Thank you so much for taking the time to write it and draw it out. I really look forward to reading and following your new comic, Wilde Life.

    Cheers!

  • I cried too while drawing the page where Zap says “I have a lot of particles.”

  • Thanks for reading! It was a pleasure!

  • Wilde Life is already launched! http://www.wildelifecomic.com

  • Thanks so much for reading!!!

  • <3!

  • Been great having you as a reader! See you at Wilde Life!!

  • Thank you, Dara!

  • Charlie3

I didn’t realize how attached I had become to Zap till you ended it. I actually got misty, and I am a 66 year old man. You really have a way of reaching folks. It’s a gift.

  • trashbandit

    Chris and Pascalle,

Thank you for the years of enjoyment you given me, and so many others. I actually found this comic through one of those crappy ‘fwd an email’ things (when that was still a thing!) and my friend said, ‘Favourite webcomic: Zap in Space’ (please forgive them for the name error – it worked out for me in the end!).

Great to have been able to be a part of the journey in some small way and sad to have to struggle through work on a Monday with nothing to look forward to in the evening, now! :P

Hopefully I can complete my hard-copy Zap! comic collection at some stage, too! I know Volume 3 was an epic to get out, but any hope for the future volumes? Or is it too soon after the previous ordeal to even consider such a thing?

Finally, congratulations for working together so well for the many, many years that you did. Chris – a great story and between you, certainly a lot of thought went into the frames. Pascalle, beautiful work. I forced myself to read the last 20 or so frames slowly, just so I could enjoy their b-e-a-uty.

Chris and Pascalle, I salute you!

    trashbandit

p.s. You should totally do a comiccon-type-thing in Brisbane, Australia next year when it comes back!

  • ReaverZ

    Thank you

  • JasonAW3

Folks, when Zap discoporated, I was about to give you such an ear full, but I said to myself, ‘Self, don’t be a schmuck, wait it out, see what happens.’

I did, and am happy I waited. It’s a good end, but it’s be kinda nice to see what Raven and Gunner are up to, three years later. Bet they spend a LOT of time in the tall grass.

Of course, if I had someone as loyal and as loving as Raven proved to be, I’d likely have refocused on the people who’s killed my people, rather than the whole race. Still would have taken down the GEF but with a whole lot less collateral damage.

I hope you someday choose to revisit these characters, but that’s for the future.

Thank you for an excellent tale, and when I get the chance, I’d like to buy the whole set of books for this story.

  • JasonAW3

    Poor Pedro!

  • JasonAW3

I remember the first page. Admittedly, the art was a bit dodgy back then, but the story caught my attention, and having stuck with it for so long, I feel guilty for not completing my stories.
Now, pardon me while I get back to work on The Altus Chronicles.

  • Justin

Good job, Pascalle and Chris. I enjoyed the comic and while I’m a bit said to see it go, it ended on a good draw. Like others have said, I hope you revisit these characters, maybe do a ten years later bit with an update on the whole cast. Otherwise, I would still enjoy it.

I’ll check your new comic later on. Regardless, this was one of the best comics out there. In the words of my old unit, “Keep up the Fire”, you two.

  • bbc

Man I haven’t posted anywhere about Zap for YEARS, since back when the forums were tiny. Thanks for the whole shebang – for making Zap! the best sci-fi webcomic around. We’ve shared the tears, the laughs, and the love, now we can share the end, before Zap overstays his welcome.

Here’s to many more years with Wilde Life!

  • Auddie

I may or may not have started crying when I thought Zap was dead. My friend and I were taking shots over her lost boyfriend and we took a shot over the lost Zap. And then when everything was okay, we took a shot over the still alive Zap.
Awesome graphics, awesome content, awesome, awesome, awesome. Thanks for all your hard work!

  • LisYaj

sorry if it seem like that, but honestly, i kinda like the ending, however, it kinda remind me too much like some other tales. but you’ve nailed it good.

  • Alex

Oh no i missed the day, I had no internet :(

This was the first comic I started reading and to see it end is like when you leave your favorite teacher. You know you’ll never see them again, maybe some time in the super market or something, and that’s a little sad, but they’re always going to be with you through every part of your life, a little warm glow of time.
And that’s a wonderful feeling to have.

Thanks for the great memories :D

  • Boli

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with endings – they are great to read/watch but there is always the sadness it is all over. Thanks for the great read over the years – seems all of my web comics are ending recently – its nice to see that yours brought a smile to my face with its conclusion :)

I know this has been asked several times before but whilst I do love seeing the improvement of the art over the years, but has there been any serious thought to improving the older art to the standard of the newer? (ideally keeping both copies on-line ;))
